Course Overview

  • With the growing importance of modern architecture, membrane structures have gained popularity.
  • Membrane structures design requires more expertise beyond the conventional engineer’s scope.
  • As the name says, it deals more with the analysis of the membranes where membranes were least covered in the civil engineer’s practice.
  • The main aim of this course on membrane structures is to impart knowledge and proficiency to the students so that they can design lightweight structures to meet the rising demand of modern architecture.
  • The concepts covered in this course include
    • Overview, History & Evolution
    • Conceptual Understanding of FEM Elements
    • Introduction to RFEM Program
    • Form Finding Methods
    • Implementation on RFEM
    • Materials
