Benefits of this Project

In this project, you will understand modeling of Material LAW-1- Elastic, LAW-2, LAW36 - Elastoplastic, and LAW-27-Brittle along with Johnson-Cook failure in Radioss. You will also understand XFEM formulation to understand the effect of cracking in the model.

What will you do in this project?

Step 1 - Analyzing the plate with XFEM failure for MAT2 - Johnson Cook Material card

Step 2 - Analyzing the plate with MAT-2 with EPS - failure and Johnson Cook failure card

Step 3 - Analyzing the plate with MAT-1 Elastic Material

In this project, you will work on a plate with different materials and failure cards. You will do the following in this project,

  • Failure of the plate is investigated with and without the XFEM formulation and the material is modeled with MAT-2.
  • Failure of the plate is investigated with the Elastic-Plastic Strain and the Johnson-Cook failures.
  • For the same plate, the material is modeled with MAT-36 with a Plastic-Strain and Stress and the failure is studied.
  • Then the plate is modeled with a Brittle Material card to understand the failure.

Analysis of failure behavior of a plate using law - 1, law - 2, law - 27, and law - 36 material models and Johnson-cook failure card in Radioss.

In this project, you will be simulating a rigid sphere impacting over a plate with Aluminium material. The plate is first investigated for the failure with XFEM and without XFEM. Then the same plate failure is studied with the EPS and Johnson-Cook failure card. After understanding these failures then the plate is modeled with the elastic material card MAT-1 and the behavior is studied. MAT-36 is used to model the plate with the help of plastic strain and stress and failure of the plate are studied. Finally, the same plate is modeled with a Brittle material MAT-27 to understand the failure effects of Brittle material. With the help of the above investigations, a clear understanding is developed on the use cases of these failure cards and the material cards.
