Model of a membrane roof with cables. The modeling, form-finding and create the cutting patterns to the structure.
Aim:
Procedure:
Create the nodes for the membrane structure
Connect the lines to the nodes
Assign the materail as cable to the lines
Select the nodes and assign hinge support
Assign the surfaces to the cable boundaries and create a new material for the membrane as orthotropic elastic 2D type
In the Form finding dialog give pre stress force of 1 KN/m
Material properties of the surface
Go generate cutting pattern from cells option from tools and generate the cutting pattern
Generate load cases as self-weight and imposed load
Apply lmposed load of 0.25 KN/m^2 on the membrane surface
Go to RF-LIMITS module from data drop down list and choose the results combination from design limit check
Provide axial force ranges for all the surfaces in both nx and ny directions
Generate the mesh with 1m triangle meshing
Results:
Deflection
Warp Axial force in membrane
Weft Axial Force in Membrane
Principal Stresses
Cable Axial Force
Tick the compensation, compensation for boundary line, allowances and line type
Provide 1% allowance in warp direction and 3% allowance in weft direction
Check the cutting pattern for membrane :
